Ways You Can Help Keep Our Museum Open

The Exchange Hotel Civil War Medical Museum is a 501(c)3 non profit business.  All monies received go directly back into the operating costs of the museum.  Museum tours and gift shop sales are only a small part of helping to maintain our buildings and grounds.  We rely on volunteers and donations to help keep our doors open.

We have many projects that have been completed in the recent past which include replacing the flooring in our newly renovated freight depot, installing an electric panel in the depot, interior painting of some of the rooms in the main museum, flower bed clean up and upkeep, installation of failed AC units, and removal of several trees that were a hazard to our buildings.

Currently, we have several projects that desperately need our attention.  One of the main concerns is the exterior of our main house and kitchen house needs to be painted, along with wood rot and crumbling brick replacement.  There are walls in the museum that need to be replaced and repaired due to water damage.  The freight depot needs to have the electrical lines run inside so that we can have power there.  We also have ongoing things that require continual maintenance such as yard work, general upkeep, assisting with programs, etc.

If you would like to volunteer your time with us or donate monetarily, please contact us either in person during normal business hours or mail.  Volunteer applications are available at the museum or by downloading the form below. You can return it via mail or email.  Our mailing address is PO Box 42, Gordonsville, VA 22942. Email us at hgiexchangehotel@gmail.com.
